Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions.
I always blanch my broccoli in the pasta water in the last few minutes of cooking. Reserve a cup of pasta water. Set aside.
Heat large sauté or frying pan to medium/medium high. Splash with olive oil if desired. Cook bacon to your preference. Drain the grease if desired (I don't).

Add tomatoes to bacon and let cook for a few minutes in bacon grease. Add garlic. Remove from heat when garlic becomes fragrant (approximately 1 minute).

If pasta seems too dry, add reserved pasta water slowly until desired consistency is reached.
